Have a Light and Clarity

I’ll rewrite those words you see
Because it seems whatever I say Will be we’ll be
Come at me with honesty,  integrity
On several different levels that no one can see
But you and me
You and me
You’re full glass of shit is the bomb with aplomb
You carry it with grace
As if this place wasn’t Vietnam
With a calm, cool smile
Hook your arms around one and two
Look into the camera and give me the queue
You think my eyes have been stuck to you like glue?
It’s really your spirit I see into
I hear excuses when I should see action
Let’s trade mugshots and compare whose earned their traction
I saw that you have been here before
Walked with ease right through my front door
Tucked my covers, checked the kids,
Took all the bad food out of my fridge
Laid down in my skin
Saw the shit I’ve lain in
And you love me
Yet you love me
You’ve studied me longer than I knew you were there
Ran your ghost-fingered spirit
Through both colors of my hair
You didn’t care
You loved every part of me
I could feel it, I swear
When I didn’t know you were looking
You were writing our scenes
Watching and listening and filling in seams
Walking on water and surfing through dreams
You are a superhero
Made one by my screams
Yet I have faith that these Clairs are real

I am not a solitary mutant

Breaking the line in a silent appeal
I did say that discernment is the cutting key
In the next vital step of earth’s  humanity
I must Write, Spell and Claire well
In this most critical spelling bee
I must constantly write
What I want to be
For what will be
I see
